Founded by renowned French-Algerian hip hop artist Mourad Merzouki, Lyon–based Compagnie Käfig returns to merge elements of hip hop with modern dance, circus, and digital arts in its breakneck productions. Named after the word “cage” in Arabic and German, the company refuses to be locked into a single style—extending the territory of hip hop without losing sight of its history.

Created by Mourad Merzouki in collaboration with French digital production studio Adrien M & Claire B, Pixel is a masterpiece featuring the company’s 11 outstanding dancers navigating a sophisticated interactive environment of light and video projections that confounds our perceptions of what is virtual and what is real. With never-before-seen stagecraft, dancers achieve aerial and acrobatic feats in a 3D digital landscape that changes with their every movement.
